I have just gone onto Twitter to find that I’ve been nominated for a Liebster award by Linda at MotherDistracted. The Liebster award is a kind of peer to peer recognition; a way of finding new and up coming bloggers with blogs currently registering 200 followers or under.
The blogger who nominates you gives you 11 questions which you must answer and then, in your response, you must nominate another 11 blogs who have less than 200 followers and let them know you have nominated them. The 11 blogs you nominate must receive 11 questions from you to answer. Finally you must link back to the person who nominated you.
I’m going to go against the grain here. The original Liebster award asked for between 3-5 nominations. I won’t be able to think of 11 and I would like them to be quality nominations so I will be nominating 5 blogs that I think are up and coming and great to read.
So, here are the questions I was asked by Linda at MotherDistracted.
1. What inspired you to start a blog?
I started blogging to document my Daughter’s life, I started when she was 7 months and wish I’d started sooner. It’s now a way fr me to document both LP and Little Man’s lives and the milestones they reach.
2. What is your absolute favourite topic to blog about?
That’s easy. LP and LM. My beautiful children. I love writing their updates and telling my readers about the new things they have learnt.
3. When someone comments on your posts, do you always reply?
Not always. If there’s a question I will always respond to it but if it’s just a comment not needing a reply then often I won’t reply.
4. Have you ever had any negative comments? If so how do you react?
I have had a lot of comments on controversial topics in the past like one about Dummies and one about Council Housing. I don’t see any comments as negative though – My posts are my opinions and I love it when my readers leave a comment to let me know their opinions on a topic.
5. What’s your favourite novel?
To Kill a Mockingbird. I read it at school and loved it. Great book!
6. What, in your view, is the best film ever made and why?
Santa Claus the Movie. It never fails to cheer me up. It’s lovely to imagine Santa and his elves creating hand-crafted wooden toys with love for children. It is a film that I will watch, along with my children for years to come.
7. X Factor or Strictly – and why?
X-Factor. It’s funny. Plus, watching people dance bores me to tears!
8. If you could change just one thing in your life, would you?
Right now, I don’t have anything I’d like to change. I am right where I want to be.
9. What’s the best thing about blogging – and the worst?
The best thing is being about to write freely, to express myself and have my own little space in the world, something that’s mine. The worst, sadly, are aspects of the blogging community – the competitiveness and the cliques.
10. Has anything good ever happened to you because of your blog?
At the moment I’m a finalist in Graco’s search for their next Ambassador. That’s probably the best thing to have happened so far!
11. Where do you see your blog 5 years from now?
I’d like to think my blog will be similar to how it is now, still open and honest, filled with our family life.
The blogs I am nominating are:-
And my eleven questions for you all are:
1 – Why did you start blogging?
2 – What do you enjoy most about blogging?
3 – Where do you get your inspiration for blogging from?
4 – Who or what else has inspired you in life?
5 – Where do you see yourself in 10 years time? Do you think you’ll still be blogging?
6 – What’s your favourite biscuit?
7 – What’s your favourite family day out?
8 – What tradition would you like to pass down to your children?
9 – If you could change one thing about your life what would it be?
10 – What would be the first thing you’d do if you won the lottery?
11 – What’s one thing you think your readers should know about you?
Thanks again to Linda for the nomination and I look forward to reading all your answers!
