Getting Bigger {The Ordinary Moments}

It seems only yesterday that LP was a little cautious preschooler, one that would hold my hand to climb onto the smallest of things and would need me to hold her hands she went down slides or be there as she climbed ladders up onto play equipment.

I wrote over the summer how she had suddenly become brave. How she had seemed so much bigger since she started preschool the September before and how she was suddenly a proper little girl with nothing babyish about her any longer.

But now, a few months on and now at school and LP is a completely different child. She wants to do things all by herself, she wants to be grown up, have independence and make her own choices. She wants to be big.

But I’ve realised over the last few weeks that LP is big. She’s getting bigger by the day, learning so much and turning into a big little girl – one I can have conversations with, one that will run head first into adventures and one that will climb to the highest point she can – because she’s big.

The days may be long but the years are short and I see LP growing almost before my eyes. I love watching her learn to do something new and seeing the glee in her eyes when she achieves something is one of the best things about being a parent. I am so proud of the little lady she is becoming.

  1. It is amazing how quickly they grow up on starting school. N’s been a lot more observant, more into massive long conversations and just generally looks taller. It is lovely to see them grow before your eyes

  2. It’s crazy how they start school & their whole attitude & behaviour suddenly becomes so much more grown up. I do love how Charlie is so independent now but still has to have a kiss & cuddle before bed. They may be “big” but never too big for a bit of Mommy time! xx

  3. It really creeps up on you sometimes doesn’t it, just how fast they are growing up. I know that since our little man started school we’ve really noticed some of the different ways he’s growing up and changing. It makes you so excited and proud… but it’s kind of a bit bittersweet too! x

  4. Aw I love this post, but I know that feeling! I now have one in secondary school and my youngest is going to be 10 in Feb, it seems not that long ago that they were your little miss’ age! I’m loving seeing glimpses of the men they’ll be in the future though 🙂

  5. I just commented on your Living Arrows post at how big she’s getting, and she really is. I remember when I first started reading your blog and LP was just a little two year old… how time really does fly!

  6. I really think being at school changes them so much. It just makes you realise how quickly they grow up. Even in just a few weeks Mads has changed subtly but so much if I think about it. Sounds like LP is an amazing little lady and will continue to do you so proud! x
