A couple of weeks ago I was asked to document a week in my life by capturing the places I visited by taking photos of the floors. But not just the floors but #FloorSelfies – floor photos with me in them rather than just my shoes and the floor.
I started my week travelling up to Manchester for the Blog On conference and took a photo just after I got off the train at Manchester Piccadilly. It may be one of my favourite train stations in the UK and it always has such a welcoming feel. I really do love Manchester.
I flew back to London and was back at work the next day. I was glad to get home that evening to spend some time with the children after not seeing them properly for a few days. It was nice to play and laugh together – and LP even got in on the #FloorSelfie action. She’s turning into such a poser! Plus, I will never get bored of our button rug!
The next day, Tuesday, was my first day at home with no plans and both children in school and preschool. So I started as I mean to go on and went to the gym straight after school drop off before heading to a coffee shop to get some blog work done. This is pretty much my new routine when I’m not at work and I am loving it – just the right balance of me time, blog time and relaxing. Believe it or not, this is the best floor I could find in our local town – shame it’s a little bit patched up but I loved it anyway.
Wednesday was another day like Tuesday – gym and coffee shops but then, after picking Little Man up from school we had lunch and then spent a lovely couple of hours playing at home. He’s obsessed by all things vehicle related at the moment so it was all about trains, cars and helicopters! I love spending time with him – he’s at just the best age. I thought his car rug was a pretty perfect floor to sum up our afternoon together.
Thursday is my busiest day of the week with the school runs and LP and Little Man’s swimming lessons at completely different times of the day. This week it was a day when Hubby was working from midday until midnight too and so it was a pretty long day. The swimming changing room floor couldn’t have been more fitting.
Friday was a working day again and it wouldn’t be right unless there was at least one picture of feet in this post! This was me leaving for work in the morning – and our tiled front porch. It’s broken at the edges and I’d love to get it restored at some point.
And Saturday was half working and half family time, with the day spent sorting stuff out at home ready for our upcoming extension. We’re trying to work out whether to keep or replace our original wood floor. It’s so expensive to restore it but it’s in dire need of something… I’ll keep you posted on that one!
So there you have it. A week of the floors in my life. This was quite fun actually. I don’t often talk about our weeks, broken down like this, more a general feel of the week and when you’re spending the week trying to find floors to take photos of it really does give you a completely different perspective.
