Entertaining the Children Inside or Out this Summer | AD
*This is a paid post as part of my role as a Studio.co.uk Ambassador
Like many families we have the summer stretching our before us. We have holidays and days out planned but then there are days when we know we’ll be at home and it’s always hard to know how to keep the children entertained on those days. Days at home can make the six weeks of summer feel like a really long time if you’re not prepared.
As part of my Studio ambassadorship I’ve been planning how we’ll keep the children happy on days at home over the summer and I know that really summer fun at home is always weather dependant. LP and Little Man love being in the garden, which is great until it starts raining. But British weather is something that we are so used to and something that makes us plan for every eventuality.
So when I’ve been thinking about our days at home I’ve been organising activities and fun that can be enjoyed both in the house or outside in the garden. Ones that won’t be spoilt by the heavens opening and ones that we can enjoy long after the summer has finished.
Garden games are one of our favourite things and we love finding ones that can be brought inside when the sky turns grey and ones that the whole family can get involved in. Stack n Fall is just that sort of game.
Stack n Fall can be played with outside on the patio or grass, it can be taken on a camping trip and it can be played with on the rug in the lounge if needed. Plus, it’s something that I love to play just as much as LP and Little Man.
Another great option for indoor or outdoor play is a punch bag and gloves. It may not be your first thought when it comes to children’s activities but LP and Little Man love to get involved in anything active so this is a great choice for any energetic child who loves to try something new.
It’s something that can be enjoyed when friends or family come over but that LP and Little Man can use together or individually too. The punch bag can be put outside on the patio or inside and the children compete to see who can hit the punch bag the hardest! I can imagine this being a summer-long competition, LP vs Little Man, seeing who can knock the punch bag all the way over! It’s full of sand so takes quite a lot for that to happen!
If all else fails over the summer, or we just need some down time, then we’ll snuggle up in front of the TV together with a blanket and popcorn. There’s nothing quite like homemade popcorn and a popcorn maker helps make it so simple and a treat we can have whatever the weather.
Along with activities I always make sure the children have the perfect summer wardrobe to keep them comfortable whatever the season throws at us. Studio children’s clothing is fantastic and Little Man’s short and polo shirt set and LP’s jumpsuit and matching t-shirt are great examples of the clothes they both love to wear over the summer. Lightweight, comfy and easy to layer up if the weather gets colder.
So we are all set for the summer thanks to Studio and I know that these two will love the time at home just as much as the adventures we go on. LP has already asked to pencil in our next movie and popcorn afternoon and Little Man is insistent that we take the Stack n Fall game on any overnight trips we have planned. Who are we to argue?
Oh these all look like so much fun! We have a popcorn machine, it’s the best thing for rainy days. Cuddling up on the sofa with popcorn and a movie. Good luck with entertaining them for the six weeks off, it’s such a long time!

Oh Donna lovely pictures and isn’t the Giant Jenga such fun!! I hope we have lots of nice weather this summer so we can get outside!!
Giant jenga is always so much fun, I’d not E en thought about bringing it indoors. I’m hoping the summer is kind to us but it looks like you are all sorted rain or shine.
We have a small version of the stack and fall game and all love it, so a giant version like that would be a big hit in our house! Love the idea of having a punching bag for the children too, it would be a great way to let them burn off some energy. x
