I love Christmas. The build up, the decorations, the darker evenings, wrapping up warm and twinkly lights everywhere. But I also love choosing the right gifts for people – and finding the perfect gifts for our family too.
Gifts for the kitchen have always been high on our list to both give and receive, every since we bought our first home nearly 15 years ago. There’s so much you can get for the kitchen that will make a lasting impression, be used so much and be really appreciated by the recipient.
So here are a few kitchen gifts to give you some inspiration to add to your own wish lists this year or to even gift those closest to you.
Appliances and small electricals are a big part of any kitchen and although you might not be able to fit an oven, washing machine or dishwasher under the tree there are plenty of other kitchen electricals that you could gift or ask for this year.
Microwaves have come far in the last few years and they can now compete with ovens to do everything from reheating your baked beans through to cooking a whole dinner.
We use our microwave so much – mainly for reheating, melting or warming – and it’s something that saves us so much time as a family. This family size Russell Hobbs microwave is a great option for any busy family home.
One thing that many people wouldn’t buy for themselves but would appreciate as a gift is a food processor. And this Ninja Food Processor with Auto-iQ would make a really lovely gift.
With interchangeable blades and attachments you can prepare dishes in minutes, choping, slicing, grating, pureeing and mixing with precision. It has a generous capacity bowl and the Auto-iQ Technology adds 4 intelligent programs that pulse, pause and process to do all the hard work for you.
A matching kettle and toaster is something else that I always love to receive, updating our current ones every few years to match the feel and theme of the kitchen.
This Breville Selecta toaster and kettle compliment each other perfectly, looking fantastic on the side in the kitchen. The kettle has a temperature gauge so you can tell whether you need to reboil the kettle if you’ve left it a while or if it’s still warm enough for that perfect cup of tea.
The toaster browns your bread perfectly based on the bread option you choose and with a four slice capacity it’s great for weekend mornings with the whole family in the kitchen.
Another great kitchen gift would be something for on the table – plates, bowls, glasses or even a nice vase. I love gifting tableware that is just a little bit different and this Artesà Blue Galvanised Serving Platter and Brass Bowl would be the talking point of any table setting.
Perfect to use during meals or to serve canapes or nibbles whilst enjoy drinks over the festive period, it adds interest to any gathering. A great size and really durable, it will be used for years.
Glasses are another lovely gift and you really can never have too many. Over the last few years everyone has got into balloon glasses and they have been the glasses to gift. But this year Spritz Glasses are the new must have where glasses are concerned.
The set of two spritz glasses are the best choice for cocktails and mocktails over the festive season. With a really good capacity, the large bowl design has plenty of room for ice and pieces of fruit to garnish your favourite drink.
Something to Enjoy
As well as gifts for the kitchen, it’s always lovely to give things that can just be enjoyed in the kitchen, sitting around the table and spending time with family or friends.
Mulled wine and chocolates is just that kind of gift, one that can be cracked open during any intimate gathering over Christmas, sharing out the chocolates and pouring the wine.
Another lovely gift to enjoy is something to make the kitchen smell amazing – and a Yankee Candle and Diffuser could be just the thing. So many scents to choose from – from the festive to the more everyday, there’s a fragrance for everyone.
And something else that will brighten up any home this Christmas is a set of gingerbread oven gloves. The sort of thing that would be treasured in any home and brought out year after year.
I hope that’s given you some inspiration for Christmas gifting this year. You can see more electricals and homeware gift ideas over on the Very website.
