What bread can you use for this Brioche Bread and Butter Pudding?

This brioche bread pudding recipe doesn’t have to be made with brioche – it can be made to use up any bread products you have leftover like a loaf of bread or panettone bread at Christmas. Panettone slices would actually be lovely, nice and dense and flavoursome.

Serve warm with a heavy cream or vanilla ice cream. Easy bread and butter pudding really is one of our favourite dessert recipes and a lovely comfort food.

If you’d rather you can make individual bread and butter puddings at home. You would just need to follow the instructions using multiple smaller dishes and adjust the cooking time if necessary.

Whether you make individual dishes or a big one to share, this is a fantastic Christmas pudding that can be enjoyed throughout the festive season. It can be served perfectly after a main course and is a great end to all family meals.

What equipment do you need for Christmas bread and butter pudding?

For this recipe you will no doubt be able to use things you already have at home but, in case it helps, here’s what we use when putting this recipe together:

It’s so nice to have warm desserts over the autumn and winter and this one has been a real hit with the children. It’s great after a Sunday lunch or even as a quick and easy warming midweek treat. You can’t beat a dessert that comes with custard at this time of year.

If you fancy mixing this cranberry bread pudding up a little you could switch the dried cranberries for chocolate chips to make a lovely chocolate orange version. That’s next on my list to write about – and if you have any other flavour suggestions I would love to hear them. You can serve this with extra custard poured over the top too – you can never have too much custard.
