Bushey Lane Books

*This is a paid post

LP and Little Man absolutely love to read but they also really love to share books with Dave and I, reading them together and making reading into an activity we can share. So when we were sent Tales of Bushey Lane to review LP and Little Man were quite excited – as it’s a book designed to assist people who are working with children and their families. Helping to effectively communicate with children to fully understand what their life is like.

LP absolutely loves school. She loves to read, loves to write and loves to learn. Although she is one of the youngest in her year she is keeping up with the class as far as her work is concerned. But, now she’s starting to ask us more questions – what specific words mean and how to spell different words. Because of this, I think the new Collins Children’s Dictionary and Thesaurus are going to be well used throughout LP and Little Man’s time at school.

I know, from being a parent, how hard it is sometimes for children to understand how they’re feeling, to express themselves when they are experiencing a range of emotions and to even know how to deal with how they are feeling. There have been times when LP and Little Man have been so full of emotion where they have just broken down – screaming, crying, sobbing – because they don’t know what they’re feeling, how to deal with it or how to explain to Dave or I what is going on inside them.

As a family we love to read, it’s pretty much one of our favourite hobbies and we can often all be found reading together. Now that LP is at a stage where she can read she loves to either find a quiet corner and read to herself or sit and read out loud to Little Man. But, she gets through books so quickly that when we were sent The Wilbies go to the Moon by Rebecca Bourne to review LP was so excited – a new book to enjoy!

Enjoying a Whole Library at Home with Reading Chest | AD

*This is a paid post

LP absolutely loves to read and gets through books so quickly. Little Man is following in her footsteps, loving nothing more than our regular story times at home. But, how can you keep children with a love of reading stocked up on books? I know, we could go to the local library but with the children at school all week and us often away at the weekends it isn’t always easy to get to the library – or to return books on time. But Reading Chest have brought the library to us.

Getting Ready for SATs with Letts | AD

*This is a paid post

LP absolutely loves school and loves to learn and this year her SATs are coming up. Now, I know there is conflicting opinion on SATs but LP’s school make SATs just like any other day. They don’t put too much emphasis on them for the children and so the children don’t worry about them and don’t have any stress. When LP comes to sit her SATs it should simply test what she knows and what she doesn’t know and she’ll see it as a simple quiz – like many that she’ll have done leading up to that point.

Animals and You Magazine Review

Review: Animals and You Magazine

Disclosure: We were sent the featured products for the purpose of this post however all opinions are my own.

LP and Little Man absolutely love magazines. They are a treat we have during school holidays or something for long car journeys. So when they were sent Animals and You Magazine to read they couldn’t have been more excited. The whole idea of Animals and You is to combine the traditional aspects of a children’s magazine with cute animals – the children’s favourite things.

Last year I put on my bucket list to read a book a month and after doing that I wanted to try and continue reading as much as possible. This year I read quite a lot until September when my workload increased and I just didn’t find much time to read. I’ll try again next year but for now, here are the books I read through the last twelve months.
