Blogger Behind the Blog {Then There Were Three}

Here’s this week’s instalment of Blogger Behind the Blog where I interview a blogger all about their reasons for blogging and what it means to them. This week I’m joined by Jenna from Then There Were Three.

Blogger Behind the Blog {Then There Were Three}

Here’s Jenna with more about her blogging life:

Where did your blog name come from?

It came from having my daughter; my husband and I started as just the two of us, and then there were three once she came along. Although I should think about updating as I have since had another little girl.

When did you start your blog and why?

I actually started years and years ago doing beauty and outfit posts. I never made them public and deleted them all – I started fresh when I went back to work after maternity leave and finally made everyone aware that I was blogging. My aim was to document our life and it has now grown to more than what I ever really thought it would.

What did you do before you blogged?

I worked full time for an airline and then went and had my daughter; my days consisted of fairly normal mum things.

What was your first post?

My first post showing on my blog at the moment is about a trip to Mexico I had before my daughter was born, but this was from my “old” blog. My first “real” post was my birth announcement.

What inspires you to blog?

My girls – most of my posts revolve around parenthood and without them I wouldn’t be able to talk about it.

What post has had the best response, which post are you most proud of and which post did you enjoy writing the most?

The answer to all three of those would have to be my first ever surrogacy post outlining my intentions to become a surrogate and making the world aware. I was incredibly nervous about that post as I know that there are a lot of mixed opinions on surrogacy, but I needn’t have worried – the feedback and support that I had was amazing!

Have any of your posts not had the response that you expected?

Probably my earlier posts; I never fully publicised them and I don’t think anyone really saw them. I do plan on updating and rewriting them eventually.

Where do you see your blog in a year’s time?

Deep down I would love to earn from my blog, but realistically, my main aim is to help people. I want to bring surrogacy out into the forefront and get rid of the taboo surrounding it.

What is your favourite thing about blogging?

The community. I truly have made some incredible friends through blogging and without their help I wouldn’t know half of what I know now.

…and your least favourite?

The follow/un follow game. I am a big supporter of other bloggers and it is a shame when you see some bloggers being unsupportive of others.

What’s the best blog post you have ever read?

It would have to be one from Laura Dove at Five Little Doves; it was long before I started blogging and I had come across it after having an early miscarriage.

What blog do you love to read and why?

One of my best friends blogs over at Holly’s Legacy; it’s all about her darling daughter who she lost at 25 weeks – her writing is amazing and I am always in tears at the end of a post.

Do you do anything differently now to when you started blogging?

Landscape photos! I always used to use portrait and switching to landscape has helped my blog format so much.

Is blogging what you expected it to be?

Yes and no. I never realised how much hard work goes into it. I have had people comment on “freebies” before, but the time behind photographing, editing, reviewing and writing certainly doesn’t make them “free” at all.

What’s been your favourite blog collaboration to date?

Probably Bluestone. We were very lucky to be invited to stay for a week in exchange for a review – my little girl loved it!

Are there any brands you would love to work with, why?

I’d actually love to collaborate with the company I work for (an international airline) but that is a long way off!

Have you had any blogging fails so far?

Oh gosh so many! Accidentally setting all of my links as follow links in the early days was the biggest!

What is your biggest blogging hope, dream or ambition?

To help people who may be going through tough times as a parent and to normalise surrogacy.

What do you do when you’re not blogging?

As I am currently on maternity leave, all of my spare time is spent being a mum to my two girls.

and lastly, tell us all a random fact about yourself.

I applied to join the army as a nurse a few years ago; by the time they got back to me to tell me that I was through I was 16 weeks pregnant! I was devastated but everything happens for a reason.
