Blogger Behind The Blog {Seaside Housewife}

Here’s this week’s instalment of Blogger Behind the Blog where I interview a blogger all about their reasons for blogging and what it means to them. This week I’m joined by Alice from Seaside Housewife. Here’s Alice with her answers:

Where did your blog name come from?

I really thought about my last one, but this one just popped into my head. I didn’t think it would take off like it has, I set it up just to keep a record of my recipes. So I could refer back to them.

When did you start your blog and why?

I started blogging a few years ago, on a different blog for my company. It was a great way of keeping people up to date with what we where doing in an easy to read format.

What did you do before you blogged?

I worked in accounts, I left full time work to have my first baby. By my second baby I had started to make early learning play mats. I blogged alongside my work.

What was your first post?

On my second blog (my current blog) it was just a very short hello and information about me. I would like to go back and add more detail to this blog.

What inspires you to blog?

It started as just a way to keep track of my recipes. It’s grown from there, it’s wonderful having lovely feedback about it helping and inspiring others – especially with our 1969 caravan!

What post has had the best response, which post are you most proud of and which post did you enjoy writing the most?

The most viewed post is about our 1969 Caravan.

I really like writing about our adventures in Daisy (the caravan) she has given us so much freedom and we are able to get away from it all.

I am still writing my favourite, it’s a review on a record player. I’m really excited about it. One of my favourites is a really simple one – Simple Bolognese Sauce – I really like the basic recipe posts.

Have any of your posts not had the response that you expected?

I guess it would be the most viewed one, it’s had over ten times more views than others but for no reason.

Where do you see your blog in a year’s time?

I am hoping to just keep building it and having more time to be more detailed!

What is your favourite thing about blogging?

It fits around me, and records what I’ve been doing. It’s great looking back on how far I’ve come with Daisy.

…and your least favourite?

I don’t have a least favourite post or I would remove it, I would like to go back over quite a few and add more detail.

What’s the best blog post you have ever read?

Goodness that’s a hard one!! I like clear, simple ones which I can make something from or learn about something.

What blog do you love to read and why?

I am terrible, I don’t really have time to read and follow anyone – which I know is a bad thing as I am sure I would learn a lot which I could bring back to my blog. I hardly get time to blog for myself let alone reading something which is just for pleasure. Most blogs I find through Pinterest!

Do you do anything differently now to when you started blogging?

I add a lot more detail, and not just a plain recipe.

Is blogging what you expected it to be?

Yes, it’s great. It’s much harder when you start moving away from just doing it for yourself to trying to attract companies to work with you.

What’s been your favourite blog collaboration to date?

I haven’t had any collaborations, yet!

Are there any brands you would love to work with, why?

I am really excited about a vegan t-shirt company I am about to work with. I don’t want to work with big brands, but the little guy trying to be better for the planet. (I know, I am never going to make big money, but I want to stay true to my beliefs)

Have you had any blogging fails so far?

I think my current boobie milk cheese is going to be a hard sell… I haven’t shared it yet due to possible negatove reactions, I am still taking things to personally!

What is your biggest blogging hope, dream or ambition?

To win more blogging awards!

What do you do when you’re not blogging?

What am I not doing would be a shorter list right now, I have my three children and two of my friends’ children for the day. That’s work in itself and my middle son is nicknamed ‘Captain Crazy’. I am about to go back to work after the holidays for my design company. (While blogging, renovating a caravan and all the other stuff!)

and lastly, tell us all a random fact about yourself

My husband asked me to marry him on our first date, I said yes and we married with in 5 months. That was in 2010.

Fabulous love story, that sounds like love at first sight! It’s a shame Alice doesn’t have time to read other blogs, that’s my favourite part about blogging.
