Here’s this week’s instalment of Blogger Behind the Blog where I interview a blogger all about their reasons for blogging and what it means to them. This week I’m joined by Aby from You Baby Me Mummy.
Here’s Aby with more about her blogging life:
Where did your blog name come from?
A five minute brain storm, I was kind of thinking along the lines of Me Tarzan, You Jane.
When did you start your blog and why?
I started my blog in August 2013, simply as an online baby book, never thinking anyone would actually read it!
What did you do before you blogged?
Many things! From a Dressage rider/judge/trainer, a Exec PA, Events Organiser and even a careers adviser!
What was your first post?
I backdated lots of diary and Facebook updates to the day I found out I was pregnant, as I started my blog when baby was five months old. I really wanted to record our whole story, or as much as I could. So the first post was probably a random short update about Baby, more of a status than a post!
What inspires you to blog?
I LOVE blogging, it has totally changed my life and I love helping others use blogging to change their lives too.
What post has had the best response, which post are you most proud of and which post did you enjoy writing the most?
Have any of your posts not had the response that you expected?
I don’t think I ever expect anything, that way I am never disappointed!
Where do you see your blog in a year’s time?
With a few e-courses running and a growing community of people using my site to help make their blogging dreams a reality.
What is your favourite thing about blogging?
The friends I have made, including my best friend Amy from Mr and Mrs T Plus Three and so many really close friends, who I can’t imagine my life without them being in it. I feel so blessed to do something I love so much as my job. I never thought that would happen to me.
…and your least favourite?
Scheduling, even though it only takes a few minutes, when I have written a post, I really don’t want to then have to mess around scheduling, I just want to get on with the next one.
What’s the best blog post you have ever read?
What blog do you love to read and why?
Amy Treasure, it’s the perfect blend of everything I love to read about, brilliant writing and stunning photography.
Do you do anything differently now to when you started blogging?
Everything I think! I had only read one blog post when I started my blog, so I had NO idea what I was doing.
Is blogging what you expected it to be?
No. Having said that I didn’t really know what to expect as I didn’t read blogs or really know anything about them. However, it is more than I could have ever imagined.
What’s been your favourite blog collaboration to date?
Oh Donna, this is tough. I have been really lucky to work with some amazing brands. I have so many favourites for different reasons. Working with Bridgestone and being taken to Rome, Cannes and Monaco were definite highlights. We recently went to an event with Optiwell at a luxury hotel, where we were treated like royalty was lovely. However, I think my favourite collaborations have been those I have done with other bloggers. I run a hashtag on Instagram with Amy and it recent passed 50k uploads, which made us very proud. I also run Live. Love Blog with Katy from What Katy Said and I love working with Katy. I think powerful things happen when bloggers work together and that’s my favourite thing.
Are there any brands you would love to work with, why?
The New York Tourist board! Canon cameras or a hotel in Jamaica! Aim high! ha ha!
Have you had any blogging fails so far?
You know I don’t think so. I am really hard on myself, and I have certainly had disappointments, but nothing that I could consider a fail.
What is your biggest blogging hope, dream or ambition?
To help people move from hobby bloggers to professional bloggers and realise their blogging dreams.
What do you do when you’re not blogging?
Ha ha! That doesn’t happen!
and lastly, tell us all a random fact about yourself
I hate bumpy things, like when you cook a fish finger on the grill, turn it over and the bottom is bumpy. Shudder I hate that!
