The Beginning of Us – Karen’s Story {Two Tiny Hands}

This week’s Beginning of Us comes from Karen who blogs at Two Tiny Hands. Karen writes about all aspects of family life as well as featuring recipes and running her #ABrandNewDay linky. You can also find her over on Facebook and Twitter but without further ado, here’s Karen to share her story.

David is my little bit of fate! I consider the way we met to be fate even though the meeting was kind of matched. We met online in 2009 via an online dating site. I’d been new to the site and was trawling and messaging men randomly. I was slightly obsessed! Dave’s profile had a bit of a twist and I took a punt and decided to email him anyway. His face was hidden on his profile, so I wasn’t sure of his looks. I do think looks are an important factor in a relationship, but personality helps too! Here follows the fate aspect of my story…

Dave had been on Match for a few years and had cancelled his paid subscription. He’d left his profile on but had given up hope on finding a match through it. Dave at this time was in New Zealand for a long holiday. He happened to check his email once while there and randomly the spam folder too. The spam folder where my email lay. If he hadn’t done this by the time he got back to England my email would have been deleted and we’d never have begun.

He must have been interested though as he re-instated his match account and got in touch with me. At this point I had been on a couple of dates, failed dates, and I was becoming a bit of a pro with online dating. Bring it on!

Dave seemed different from the outset. He wanted to call, to chat, everyone else dealt with messages and emails to arrange dates. Arranging his date, he was decisive, didn’t leave it up for me to suggest something. We spent ages talking on the phone, it was nice, it felt proper!

Date night arrived, we were nervous but the conversation flowed freely. We were there until closing time having only had three drinks over six hours. He walked me home, let me borrow his coat, smooched on the doorstep. It was romantic, a true gent!

We met again that same weekend and it confirmed that we were a match and continued to see each other forever more!

This is the very beginnings of us and we have had many adventures together, roll onto 2016, we’re now a family of three. A very sealed deal!

I’ve enjoyed writing the beginnings of us, it made me dig out the first photos of us, it reminds me why I fell in love.

Thanks Karen for sharing your story. I am so glad that Dave checked his email! I also met my Dave over internet dating and have never looked back. I always find it amazing that I wouldn’t have met him without the internet – and you wouldn’t have met yours if he hadn’t checked his spam!

If you would like to read the other posts in the series you can see them all here and remember to come back next week for another lovely story!
