It’s that time of year where, in blogging, there are awards all over the place. It’s a time of year that goes hand in hand with the nicer weather – and always makes me smile. I love voting for my favourite blogs, ones that truly deserve awards and I can’t express how amazing it is when one of your blogging besties has their name up in lights.
This year so many of my friends, and blogs that I adore, have made it into the shortlist of The MADs and The BiBs, two awards that I am really familiar with after a few years of blogging. This year I am lucky enough to be shortlisted in the Social Media category of the BiBs. Chuffed isn’t quite a big enough word to describe how I feel.
But a couple of days ago I had another, unexpected, email. I have been shortlisted in the mumandworking awards in the Working Parent Blogger of the Year category. This is for bloggers commenting on both parenting and business with inspiring topical content for other working parents.
Well, I don’t really write about work. I keep work and the blog quite separate but I always write about getting a good work/blog/life balance and how I manage to fit everything in around a family. I always talk to other bloggers, and non-bloggers too, about managing work and a blog and it’s something that I have been doing for a couple of years now and something I feel I am quite good at – keeping all those plates spinning.
Just being nominated for this award means so much. It’s not often easy being a working parent – nor a stay at home parent for that matter – and having a blog as well, and trying to make it into something more, into a business in it’s own rite as well as keeping it grounded, continuing to document family life is not easy.
I work 19 hours a week and blog for many, many more hours than that. But I work to pay the bills, to help support our family and I blog because I love it. It’s my one hobby, a passion and something I can’t imagine being without.
So if you nominated me in the mumandworking awards – thank you. It means so much. If you would like to vote for me then you can find the voting form here. As always, thanks so much to everyone that reads this blog. Every single view and comment means so much.
