Over the last couple of weeks I’ve introduced you to children’s magazines from Bayard Magazines – Story Box and Discovery Box. I’m back this week to tell you about Adventure Box, a fantastic book-like magazine for children.
Adventure Box feels like a book. It’s well made compared to other children’s magazines and the sort of magazine children will keep and treasure long after the first read. It’s primarily aimed at children aged 6-9 who love to read but it would also be good for younger children to enjoy with their parents or older siblings too.
The magazine is made up of a great combination of content – from stories to games and nature facts. The first half of the book is a full chapter book for children to enjoy, with beautiful illustrations on every page. This is followed by a Q&A with the author and illustrator of the book. I know our children always love to find out more about the people behind the books and TV shows that they enjoy.
Adventure Box magazine has plenty of learning too – with a whole Nature Box section dedicated to glow worms. LP and Little Man loved this. They’ve only ever seen glow worms in cartoons before so finding out more about real life glow worms was fantastic for them.
The magazine has plenty of games, quizzes and activities to keep children entertained – and a how-to explaining how to make a holiday scrapbook over the summer.
The magazine ends with fantastic comic strip, adding more variety to typical children’s stories. I know many children prefer to read different styles of writing and the mix of a traditional story and comic book will make this magazine appeal to so many children.
This summer, Bayard Magazines have put together a fantastic range of free activities for children, and there are new activities launched every week! The activities are split into age appropriate packs based on Bayard Magazines titles – StoryBox for rookie readers age 3-6, AdventureBox for novice novelists age 6-9, AdventureBox MAX! for fiction lovers age 9-14 and DiscoveryBox for fact lovers age 9-14.
Little Man has loved the AdventureBox magazine activities – listening to audio stories, drawing his own illustrations for the story and making a scrapbook of summer adventures. The activities are all well suited to the 6-9 kids age range and great for keeping the children entertained this summer.
