Review: Valley Mill

I love finding new brands online and loved coming across the Valley Mill website and their gorgeous range of homeware and gifts made in Wales. They have so many products, each beautifully made that when they asked me to review some of their products I wasn’t sure what to pick! In the end I was sent three of their gorgeous handmade soaps and a beautiful soy candle.

The Valley Mill delivery arrived incredibly well packaged and the products were in lovely recycled cardboard boxes with lots of padding in them. It’s great to buy from a store where you know your order will arrive in pristine condition.

I was sent three natural soapsΒ from their range of six different scents – Grapefruit & Fennel, Rosemary & Lime and Lavender & Citronella. Although the ingredients of the soaps weren’t things I would usually put together the aromas worked well together and even before I’d opened the boxes I could smell the wonderful fragrances of the soaps.

The soaps work well, lathering up nicely with a fragrance that lasts for hours. Each soap comes individually boxed and turns an ordinary soap into something that could be given as a gift. They look beautiful both in and outside of the boxes and would look lovely on a soap dish next to the sink or by the side of the bath.Β The colours of the soaps are beautiful, complimenting each other and being true to the ingredients in the soaps.

The Soy Candles come in many fragrances and I chose to review the coconut one – a scent I automatically associate with summer, holidays and suncream and one of my favourite smells. The candle arrived gift boxed and came complete with an engraved Welsh slate lid that doubles up as a coaster and would be great to keep long after the candle has finished burning. The candle also comes in a heavy glass tumbler that could be reused too.

Unlike other candles I have burnt in the past, the Valley Mill Soy Candle has a wooden wick that is not only easier to light than a traditional wick but it also lets the wax burn evenly and helps the fragrance to be as strong as possible too.

The coconut fragrance from the Soy Candle was really natural and not at all synthetic or overly sweet. It was a lovely coconut smell that filled the room and really added to the atmosphere whatever room we put the candle in. The candle has an approximate burn time of 60 hours which, given the amount of time I have already burnt the candle for, does seem realistic to me. This would again make a great gift – as would many Valley Mill products – and the coaster lid makes a great addition too.

Disclosure: We were sent the above products for the purpose of this review however all opinions are my own.

  1. the rosemary and lime soap sounds lovely so i think that would have to be my fave x wonderful giveaway x

  2. Apart from these beautiful soaps and candle, I do love the Welsh Wood Large Red Wool Throw. It’s so beautiful.

  3. The lavender and citronella and soap! Lavender brings back fond memories for me, of picking fresh lavender in the garden with my grandma when I was a child

  4. The coconut fragrance from the Soy Candle sounds gorgeous. I always love the smell and taste of coconut although I would not be eating this of course!
