Little Man Loves the New Thomas & Friends Read & Play App

*This is a collaborative post

Little Man absolutely loves Thomas the Tank Engine and he has been obsessed with all things Thomas & Friends for the last couple of years – our Christmas this year is pretty much sponsored by Thomas! But, it can be easy to get sucked into Thomas toys that have no real educational benefit so when we were asked to test out the new Thomas & Friends Read & Play App I hoped it would help Little Man to learn whilst he plays.

The Thomas & Friends Read & Play App is perfect for any child who likes using a tablet or smartphone and who has even the smallest interest in Thomas. The app plays fun music from the show in the background which draws you instantly into the app and has so much to do once inside that any child will love to give it a try.

Review: Thomas & Friends Take n Play Jungle Quest #TeamThomasUK

Little Man loves Thomas & Friends like nothing else. He spends his whole day talking about his favourite characters watching shows on the TV and carrying his favourite trains around with him. When we were invited to join Team Thomas and review the Thomas & Friends Take n Play Jungle Quest I knew Little Man would love it – especially as he already has a vast collection of Take n Play trains!

Thomas & Friends Take n Play Jungle Quest is one of a whole range of Take n Play Thomas & Friends playsets. It arrives in one compact box and the contents are a little daunting – lots of pieces that need slotting together but really it doesn’t take very long at all and comes with easy to follow instructions and even a few stickers to put on too.

When the Jungle Quest set is put together it creates a really good size play space that has double sided play as well as a lift to move Thomas up to a higher play level for him to them zoom down the tracks – away from the giant gorilla!

Little Man loves that Thomas has so many tracks to move along and really likes the truck full of emeralds that Thomas pulls along behind him. This play set has given Little Man so much entertainment since it arrived and it’s the perfect toy for any Thomas fan. He has even used his other Take n Play trains in the Jungle Quest and is now looking for more Take n Play play sets to expand his collection even more!

If your children love Thomas & Friends they can join Team Thomas too! Thomas & Friends are inviting fans and their families to power Thomas on a virtual journey to reach The Great Race – the brand new movie that launches next month! Children can join in with fun weekly activities that reinforce the positive values of friendship, teamwork, participation and determination that children love about Thomas & Friends – When you race with Team Thomas, friendship always wins!

Parents can even use their Twitter and Instagram pages to share their stories, photos, videos and comments with #TeamThomas helping Thomas on his journey. When he reaches his destination never before seen videos and amazing prizes will be unlocked for Thomas fans!  You can visit the Thomas & Friends Facebook page for more details.

Review: Fisher Price Remote Control Thomas

I have spoken often about Little Man’s love of Thomas the Tank and like most two year olds he is easily pleased when it comes to toys – if it is in some way Thomas themed he is bound to love it!

When Fisher Price sent us the Remote Control Thomas to review I knew that Little Man would love it but I wasn’t sure what I would think about it – would it eat batteries? Would it get stuck in corners of the room or under the sofa? Would he get bored of it in five minutes?

But I didn’t need to worry. As soon as the Remote Control train was unboxed Little Man couldn’t wait to play with it. The only downside was that it took 6AAA batteries that weren’t supplied. That could have resulted in one very unhappy Little Man but luckily we always have a drawer full of batteries so Little Man was able to play almost immediately.

The Thomas & Friends Remote Control Thomas is really easy to use with one button that makes Thomas go forward and one that makes him spin around to change direction. He picks up quite a lot of speed and with just those two buttons Thomas can get anywhere. He doesn’t get stuck easily, goes from carpet to wood or lino with no problem and is a joy to play with for both Little Man and his parents!

Little Man loved that he could make Thomas move by himself and that it gave him so much independence. He enjoyed making Thomas move around the room and would often chase after him too. So funny to see! Overall we have all really enjoyed playing with Remote Control Thomas and I know Little Man will love it indefinitely. The only downside for me is that it requires so many batteries but on the plus side they seem to last quite a while – not having run out yet!

The Fisher Price Remote Control Thomas has an RRP of £19.99

Review: Thomas Go Glow Night Bright

With Little Man moving from cot to bed and having a whole new big boy room to get used to I thought that a night light might make the transition easier and help him get comfortable at bedtime. Worlds Apart sent us their Thomas Go Glow Night Bright to review and Little Man, an avid Thomas fan, loved it immediately.

The Thomas Go Glow Night Bright is more than just a night light. It’s a torch and base that, when put together, make a night light. The torch can also be used as a night light separate from the base when it’s put upright on any flat surface.

The base charges the torch too so it doesn’t need any batteries and the torch works for hours once fully charged without being put back in the base. Although we haven’t tested it for this long the instructions say that it has a 16 hour battery life once charged. The Go Glow Night Bright gives off a great glow, without being too bright and the torch is bright enough for Little Man to investigate his whole room at night.

I can imagine that when we start potty training Little Man will be able to take the torch with him to the toilet rather than having to worry about turning lights on to see his way. The torch feature of the Go Glow Night Bright makes it such a versatile and long lasting product – I can see it being a feature in Little Man’s room for years to come.

Little Man loves that he can turn the Go Glow Night Bright on by himself just by pressing the top and he gets definite comfort from the lit up Thomas on his bedside table, often saying ‘choo-choo’ and pointing at it.

Worlds Apart have a whole range of Go Glow products featuring different characters and I think any child would love to have one in their bedroom. It’s practical, fun and looks nice too.

The Go Glow Night Bright has an RRP of £19.99

Review: Fisher Price Thomas & Friends Pop & Go Thomas

I have always loved Thomas the Tank Engine and it has featured throughout my life in one way or another – my older brother and I watching the show on TV as children, buying my ‘baby’ brother a wooden Thomas train set for his 1st Birthday 9 years ago and now seeing LP and Little Man playing with their own Thomas toys. This year marks the 70th anniversary of Thomas and to celebrate Fisher Price sent us their Thomas & Friends Pop & Go Thomas to review.

The Thomas & Friends Pop & Go Thomas is aimed at 12 months and older. It features a Thomas toy with a see through top that has balls that bounce around as you move Thomas. He has a handle so that children can push him along the floor and as he’s pushed the balls inside pop.

Little Man instantly loved Thomas. The handle was the right height for him to hold onto and he enjoyed seeing the balls pop as he pushed. He has even taken to dragging Thomas along behind him instead of pushing along sometimes and the popping action still works well.

This would be a great toy for a child who has just started walking and would give them a bit more confidence on their feet – having something exciting like Thomas to push along.

For an older child, like Little Man, it would be great to take Pop & Go Thomas out and about on adventures with you. Most of the Thomas toys that we have at the moment, like Thomas Visits The Castle, are very much indoor toys so I love that Pop & Go Thomas could be taken out in the garden, to the park or away for the weekend.

Thomas & Friends Pop & Go Thomas is really well made and only requires two screws to be tightened before it’s used for the first time. I think Pop & Go Thomas would make a great first Birthday gift to give it the best possible amount of use.

Thomas & Friends Pop & Go Thomas has an RRP of £19.99
