Review: YumBox

Since weaning LP has always been great at eating and has her firm favourites when it comes to food – She will always eat pasta, mash potato, baked beans and sausages. She isn’t massively keen on trying new things although will give them a go with a bit of persuasion. When YumBox gave us the opportunity to review one of their bento style lunchboxes I hoped that it would make lunches a bit more exciting for LP, help me give her a wider variety of foods and ultimately get LP to try different things.

Review: YumBox

The YumBox lunch boxes come in green or pink and are comprised of a hard plastic case with a segmented tray inside that features illustrations of the food groups and appropriate portion sizes. We’ve been using the YumBox at lunchtimes since it arrived and although LP doesn’t ‘need’ a lunchbox just yet it definitely increases her enthusiasm for sitting down to eat her lunch.

Review: YumBox

I’ve been using the food group labels as a rough guide – I find that the ‘grains’ section will only fit half a slice of bread so the other half tends to fill another section or gets left on the side for seconds! I always used to give LP a fruit course after her lunch but now with the YumBox she has fruit as part of her lunch and it gives her a wider variety of flavours and more choice.

I find that with the YumBox I am more adventurous with the things I offer LP and I give her things for lunch I wouldn’t usually – Just because it will look nice in the little pot! The YumBox has a silicon ‘lid’ attached to the inside of the box to create a leakproof and airtight barrier when the YumBox is closed which creates a more versatile lunch holder than a standard lunchbox. It also means that you don’t need clingfilm or sandwich bags and each food won’t mix with the other foods in the YumBox – Perfect lunch every time!

Review: YumBox

LP has loved using the YumBox even to the point that she refuses to give it back when she’s finished eating! Seeing her so enthusiastic about lunch and to find out what’s in her box each day is great and the YumBox will definitely feature in our lunches for a long time to come.

  1. Oh exciting you got to try one, I follow them & they look fab definitely something I will be considering, especially as I’m not the most adventurous or imaginative lol xx

  2. Looks great! But clicked on the link and think it’s VERY overpriced. There’s no way I’d pay that for what is, in essence, just a lunchbox. Great idea Yumbox, but perhaps rethink your pricepoint?
Love the photographs in this one Donna. 🙂
