Little Man has been walking for a few months now but has no sense of danger – we either need to hold his hand constantly or use reins which at the moment is by far the safest and easiest option! When Trunki announced their new ToddlePak I was keen to see how Trunki’s reins would compare to other similar products.
The Trunki ToddlePak comes in 7 fun and bright designs and we chose to review the yellow lion as Little Man loves lions and roars whenever he sees one. I was impressed with the minimal packaging that came with the ToddlePak and couldn’t wait to get in onto Little Man.
The harness and straps are separate so the first thing is to adjust the harness. This is the one part of using the ToddlePak that I found tricky, I actually tried to adjust it, gave up and came back to it the following day. Now, in hindsight, my issue is that I tried to adjust it without it being on Little Man. I think the best way of adjusting the harness is to put it on the child and then pull the straps as indicated on the instructions and they it couldn’t be simpler. Now that I have worked this out adjusting the reins is an absolute breeze.
One the ToddlePak is on the child you can attach the reins. The harness is the perfect size though for a toddler to wear it in the car or pushchair with the reins taken off. This makes it much simpler to use than other reins as with other ones I was forever taking the whole harness off and putting it on again.
The reins on the ToddlePak are great as they attach on both sides of the harness but the part you hold slides along the part that attaches to the harness. It’s hard to describe but it means that you are always in the best position as far as safety is concerned – the reins are never too taught on one side but loose on the other, you are always holding onto the child at the central position.
We have loved using the ToddlePak and after the first hiccup with the adjusting we have used them continuously. They are now our preferred reins for Little Man and he loves wearing them too – pointing at his lion and roaring! Plus, he is comfortable wearing the harness and happily wears it all day when we are out and about.
