A lot of Little Man’s toys are ones that his sister has grown out of or her toys that he shares. We were recently sent a SmarTrike Dream to review and I was excited for Little Man to have something that was his and something that we hadn’t had in the past for LP.
The SmarTrike Dream comes in a choice of six colours and we chose the gold and black version. It arrived in one compact box and Hubby set to work putting it together – This was more straightforward that I’d expected and he only found one part tricky – To change the SmarTrike Dream from child steering to parent steering you have to turn the front wheel all the way around until it locks in place and this wasn’t very clear from the instructions. Aside from this, constructing the Smart Trike Dream took no time at all.
The SmarTrike Dream is a tricycle that has four different modes that grow with your child starting at 10 months where parents take full control with the steering handle. As they grow the child can practice steering, but Mum and Dad still determine where the trike is headed! Once confidence grows they can start to try out the pedals and in the fourth stage the parent handle can be removed and they can cycle around independently from approximately 30 months.
Little Man has just turned 11 months and we have been using the SmarTrike Dream in the first mode. From the first look at the SmarTrike Dream I was impressed with the amount of features and additions it has on it. The parent handle has three different heights and we’ve had LP’s help to test the lowest setting!
The SmarTrike Dream sun shade can be positioned to best block the sun and there’s even a parent storage bag on the parent handle and a roomy basket on the back of the Smart Trike Dream. Add to this the padded seat, three point harness with removable pads on the straps, drinks holder/basket on the front of the trike and even a toy telephone to take calls on the go SmarTrike have really thought of everything!
Little Man loves the new viewing angle of being in the SmarTrike Dream – It makes a difference to being carried or pushed in a pushchair and it also makes days out more interactive for him as he can see, hear and experience so much more. LM happily sits in the SmarTrike indefinitely and is obviously comfortable in it. He loves playing with the toy phone and we like that a drink can be kept easily within his reach.
Maneuvering the SmarTrike Dream couldn’t be easier. The handle is easy to adjust to different heights and steering is smooth with SmarTrike’s built in Touch Steering. The SmarTrike Dream is also fairly lightweight considering it’s well built construction and even with Little Man on it the SmarTrike is easy to push along and the weight isn’t an issue.
Little Man loves the SmarTrike Dream and LP loves her brother’s ‘new bikey’. The SmarTrike Dream will definitely be a fixture in our lives until Little Man grows out of it – A long time yet! I’m looking forward to seeing LM grow through the stages of the SmarTrike and eventually learn to pedal it himself.
The SmarTrike Dream is so much more than a toy. It’s a fun mode of transport and something that all the family can enjoy together, that can be used to pop to the shops or on a day out. The SmarTrike Dream is well made, versatile and something that will literally last years. I can’t recommend it enough.
The SmarTrike Dream has an RRP of £99.99. The Black and Gold version is available exclusively at Argos.
