A common theme on this blog is how important I think reading is with children, and the earlier you start the better. Reading is also a huge part of our day to day lives with LP and we absolutely love reading something new – as well as going over old favourites, many of which we now know by heart!
The lovely people at Pink Lining have sent us a Pink Lining Picture Satchel for LP to keep her favourite books in along with a Ladybird Bedtime Tales book to add to her collection.
The Pink Lining Picture Satchel is beautiful! LP has a love of bags and up until now has taken a handbag everywhere with her. I’m sure now this picture satchel has taken over from the handbag and will be her most prized possession! The Pink Lining Picture Satchel is made from laminated cotton cloth – much like sailcloth – which is easy to wipe clean and incredibly durable. It’s a really good size and holds all of LP’s most cherished books along with anything else she likes to put in it – toys, hair bobbles, random things she’s picked up around the house! The satchel also has a large clear window in the front that LP’s works of art can be placed into for the world to see! Such a lovely touch. Inside is a mesh pocket and also a velcro fastening pocket made into the pink lining. This satchel is a really lovely product and the great quality everyone has come to know and love from Pink Lining.
Ladybird is a huge name in Children’s books and one that I remember fondly from Childhood. The Ladybird Bedtime Tales book is just like the books I remember – full colour pages, stories with great themes and messages behind them and a great quality book. The stories in this book are all traditional and well loved stories that most people will know well – Chicken Licken, Rapunzel, The Enormous Turnip, The Wizard of Oz, The Emperor’s New Clothes, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Rumpelstiltskin and Heidi. They are stories that all children should grow up knowing and what better way to learn such classics than in a lovely hardback book with beautiful illustrations that cover every page.
LP loved reading the Bedtime Tales book with us and got to know the characters in the stories fairly quickly although due to her age she would only sit through half a story in one sitting, the rest we would read at the following bedtime. The Ladybird Bedtime Tales book is one that is going to be read at bedtimes for years to come and I can’t wait until we can sit and read books like this to LP and Little Man and for them both to enjoy the traditional stories that Hubby and I both loved when we were growing up.
Disclosure: We were sent the above items for the purpose of this review, however all opinions are my own.
