Review: Photographic Gifts

When looking for presents for friends and family I always like to buy something personal and often personalised, something that they will hopefully treasure and keep forever. I have spent a lot of time looking online for companies that do personalised gifts but always seem to end up ordering from the same big online names who charge a huge amount for most things – I’ve always found it hard to find a smaller company to order from.

I was recently given the opportunity to review a couple of items by Photographic Gifts and as soon as I saw their website I was impressed – The product range to choose from isn’t the biggest but they are adding new lines all the time – Valentines Gifts and Baby Gifts are two recent additions. The one things that struck me though was the price – Many personalised, framed prints for under £15! Most other companies would charge that without the frame!

I chose two items to review, a Personalised Family Artwork Framed Print and a Baby Celebration Acrylic Visionblox – Both are things that I would love to receive as gifts and the kind of things I would choose as gifts for other people. Now that our family is complete I wanted something to commemorate and celebrate that. I chose the Baby Celebration Acrylic Block as it was different, I’d never seen acrylic art before – always glass or ceramic, and we hadn’t yet got anything to mark Little Man’s birth – This looked like the perfect thing.

One thing I loved about Photographic Gifts, unlike other companies where you’re asked to proof read the personalisation you’ve input and double check before purchasing, Photographic Gifts send you a proof of the details you entered to make sure everything is just the way it should be before they create your order. I have been sent things in the past with a typo on – human error that could happen to anyone. Being sent a proof means that not only are you double checking what you have asked for but the people at Photographic Gifts are also double checking it – A definite perk of buying from a smaller, customer focused company.

The items arrived really quickly and were very well packaged in layers of cardboard and bubble wrap inside a cardboard box. The Framed Print was a lot bigger than I’d expected – I’m not one for reading details too carefully online and was expecting it to be A4 – No, it’s A3 and lovely! The frame is solid wood with a white finish although other finishes are available. The print is perfect! It has ours and our children’s names on, a lovely tree artwork and ‘Nesting since 10th May 2013’ – The date that Little Man was born and completed our family. I’ve never seen this design anywhere else and I love it. It now has pride of place in our lounge.

The Baby Celebration Acrylic Block is lovely and so different! It’s freestanding and can be either pink or blue. It has so much information on – Star Sign, Date and Time of Birth, Place of Birth, Full Name and Weight. I love the modern design and really like the fact that all Little Man’s details are there, forever, not only written down but also in a piece of art that is now living in his room. Up until this point I didn’t know what his star sign was either – I just hadn’t thought about it, but when I put in his date of birth Photographic Gifts worked out his star sign.

Overall the quality and service from Photographic Gifts is something I cannot fault. Their prices are incredibly reasonable and they will be my first port of call for any personalised gifts in the future – I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them!

Disclosure: The above items were sent for the purpose of this review but all opinions are my own.
