Review: Oatly Oat Drink

I love trying new food and drink products with the children as it’s always a great way of giving them variety in their diets and day to day lives. We were recently given the chance to review Oatly – a milk type drink, and as LP loves chocolate milk and both LP and LM get through tons of milk I was interested to see how they would find Oatly.

Review: Oatly Oat Drink and giveaway!

Oatly offers a delicious oat-based milk alternative which is perfect for those following a vegan, vegetarian or dairy-free diet, but also for anyone looking to follow a healthier lifestyle. The product is packed full of fibre and nutritional goodness, and it’s ‘wow no cow’ ethos means it’s also much more environmentally friendly than cow’s milk.

The Oat Drink is available in original, organic and chocolate varieties and can be enjoyed on its own, or as a milk substitute with your cereal, muesli, etc. It took us a while to find Oatly in the shops as I was expecting it to be in the fresh milk section but it turns out that it’s in the long life section – great to always have in the cupboard!

I was expecting Oatly to have a similar look and consistency to milk but it was more like coloured water. It tasted slightly sweeter than ordinary milk or chocolate milk and thinner – more like skimmed milkshake! But LP and Little Man both enjoyed Oatly and drank it as easily as they would normal milk. Oatly would be a fantastic product for anyone with dairy intolerances or allergies and after trying it a few times it tastes pretty similar to milk.

Oatly has an RRP of £1.39 per litre.

Disclosure: We were sent vouchers to exchange for Oatly for the purpose of this review however all opinions are my own.

  1. Id love to try the chocolate one, my youngest cant have cows milk so would love to give new milk a try, we currently use soya but im looking to try oat and almond milks too.

  2. I hate milk so I was a bit suspicious of this – I automatically think yuck when I hear of anything milky. But it does look like something the kids might enjoy. Does it actually look like juice, or is it more milky coloured? I’m intrigued now!

  3. I want to try the original, when I was younger I’m sure my mum bought me an oaty drink of some sort, but she can’t remember and I was too young so maybe this is similar to that and will take me back to my childhood!

  4. My daughter has already tried the chocolate one (she is lactose intolerant) and we would both like to try the original version now

  5. My daughter has a dairy allergy so has the original Oatly every day. Therefore if I won this competition I would treat her to the Chocolate one!
