A few weeks ago we were lucky enough to be sent a box of Mackays new Christmas preserves. I am a huge fan of jam and marmalade and to get Christmas ones was such a treat! We were sent their Christmas Preserve with Mulled Wine and their Christmas Marmalade with Cranberries.
Obviously, I started off by trying both on toast and the Christmas Preserve was lovely with a really nice underlying festive flavour from the mulled wine which wasn’t at all overpowering. This would be a great alternative to traditional jam over the festive period but I also decided to use it in some cooking and did a festive spin on a classic treat and created a Festive Bakewell Tart that I can definitely recommend!
The Christmas Marmalade was also nice on toast although I found it quite bitter so I’m not sure if that was the new Christmas flavour or their Marmalade generally. I’ll be buying the Mackays Christmas Marmalade in future but reserving it for cooking with – and I’ve already experimented with a Christmas Marmalade and Apple Tart.
We’ve really loved trying the Mackays Festive Preserves and if you’re looking for something to add a little touch of Christmas to your everyday routine then give these preserves a try.
Disclosure: We were sent the above products for the purpose of this post however all opinions are my own.
