Throughout my pregnancy with Little Man and since he was born I haven’t bought any new maternity/nursing underwear at all. I am still wearing the bras I wore when LP was born – Ones I had put in the loft with my maternity clothes and dragged out again halfway through my pregnancy with Little Man when my normal bras got too uncomfortable.
I had intended to buy new bras but it wasn’t something I had ever got around to and so my old bras were getting worn out after the best part of 2 years of breastfeeding. I was hugely thankful when Bravado gave me the opportunity to review one of their Body Silk Seamless Nursing Bras.
I’ve never reviewed anything like a bra before. To be honest, I’ve never really been all that interested in bras – To me they’ve always been a necessity that I wear in public and remove the minute I get indoors in the evening! I’ve always found bras at least slightly uncomfortable and something I wish I didn’t have to wear – That said, I wouldn’t want my boobs to be down by my knees either!
So it was with a certain amount of excitement, and slight apprehension that I took delivery of my new nursing bra. The first thing I noticed was the lack of bra sizes and instead the Body Silk Seamless Nursing Bra was available in Small, Medium, Large or Extra Large sizes. This seemed like sleep bras that I’d had in the past but when I looked more closely at the nursing bra I saw how far from being a sleep bra it was.
The Body Silk Seamless Nursing Bra has removable foam pads in each cup to pad the bra out and stop nipples or breast pads showing through clothing. The bra also has nursing clips on each strap that allow the cup to be pulled down fully to make nursing possible. There’s an elasticated strip from the clip down to the band of the bra that stops the bra strap from falling down whilst nursing.
The Bravado Nursing Bra has 5 different size adjusters at the back to make sure the bra fits you perfectly. The seamless design and stretchy fabric also make the bra easily fit any body shop. I have never had such a well fitting bra and a bra that was so comfortable to wear – It really felt like a second skin. By the end of each day I was in no hurry to take the bra off!
One thing I loved about the Bravado Body Silk Seamless Nursing Bra is that not only can it be worn throughout pregnancy and all the time you are breastfeeding but Bravado also give you a kit to change the bra into a standard bra when you no longer need it for breastfeeding. A bra that will last you from pregnancy all the way through your child’s nursing and still usable afterwards! For me that is a huge plus point over other maternity and nursing bras.
Overall I found the Bravado Body Silk Seamless Nursing Bra to be incredibly comfortable, easy to clip and unclip one handed, very natural to breastfeed whilst wearing and something that I really wish I had invested in sooner. My only slight niggles are that the colour options are limited – Rose or Teal – I usually opt for black or white bras, and the neckline is slightly higher than a lot of my breastfeeding-friendly tops. As it stands though, I would happily wear other tops to have a whole day of wearing a bra in comfort so only a little niggle really!
The Bravado Body Silk Seamless Nursing Bra has an RRP of £30.
