Review: Bigjigs Farm House Sorter

As part of our Bigjigs Play Patrol first mission LM ‘Agent Little Man’ got his very own toy to try our and put fun to the test with! Little Man was sent the Bigjigs Farm House Sorter which arrived in the trademark Bigjigs packaging – all of which is made from at least 90% recycled material!

The Farm House Sorter has a great design which incorporates a carry handle in the lid so that you can easily move it from place to play without losing pieces. The two lid sections come off for easy access to the animals inside and there are holes in the side to fit the animals through.

At this stage Little Man loved taking the lid off and trying to put it back on again, putting the animals back in the ‘farm’ and generally just playing with the pieces. LP on the other hand knew how to sort the shapes immediately and I was impressed that she even put some of the animals through the correct holes straight away – It’s been quite a while since she last used a shape sorting toy so I was quite surprised she knew what to do – She knows so much more than I realise!

All of the farm animals that you would expect are included but I was quite concerned about the poor blue sheep – I’ve never seen a blue sheep before! The other animals were all easily recognisable and had their names printed in words on the reverse – Cow, sheep, pig etc. This is great idea to make the toy last quite a lot longer. LP knows how to sort the shapes and the next stage of play for her will be recognising the words and letters and associating them with the different animals – This is one aspect I love about the Farm Animal Sorter.

The whole Farm House Sorter feels incredibly well made with really durable pieces and it’s great to know that all Bigjigs toys are made from sustainable wood sources too.

LP loved playing with the Farm House Sorter, even though it is recommended for age 1+ and it’s great to know that it’s a toy Little Man will grow into and will be able to play with for a few years which makes the Bigjigs Farm House Sorter great value for money. You would also be able to use the farm animals alongside other toys to make many more play ideas – Farm animals next to a train set or living in the back garden of a dolls house!

The Farm Animal House is the perfect toy to play at home or out and about. The handle makes it easily portable and LP has loved playing with it wherever we have been – The park, the beach and to town. It’s also our fail safe toy to keep Little Man entertained in restaurants now too – He will spend quite a while happily putting the animals in the house and taking the back out again. An all round great toy!

Disclosure: We were sent the above toy as part of the Bigjigs Play Patrol Scheme but all opinions are my own.
