It’s no secret that we love wooden toys but even now one of LP’s favourite toys is still her Little Tikes Cash Register – with no wood in sight! But when we were given the chance to review Asda’s new Wooden Cash Register I wondered whether LP would love it as much as the plastic one.
The Wooden Cash Register comes with wooden coins, paper money and a wooden credit card. It also has a wooden scanner and a lot of interactive things on it – the till drawer pulls out, there are wooden rings that move along and a receipt roll made of ribbon on a wooden tube. I do think the ribbon looks a bit cheap and the Wooden Cash Register didn’t really need it to still be a lovely toy.
One of my main issues with the Wooden Cash Register is that the till drawer comes all the way out with nothing to stop it. This makes it a toy which can end up all around the room or if you are packing it away and the drawer slides out you are left chasing wooden coins around the room.
Other than this, LP loves the Wooden Cash Register. She loves to pretend to scan things, loves to count her money and slide the credit card through the slot on the cash register. The negatives with the toy don’t bother LP and she adores it regardless and even with the criticisms that I have I still think that the Wooden Cash Register is a bargain at just £10.
The big question, does LP love the Wooden Cash Register more than the plastic one? No. She loves them the same, will happily play with both of them or one of them and then the other. She has no preference. So, if you’re looking for a stocking filler this Christmas, a cash register could be just the thing – wood or plastic!
