LP is currently obsessed with all things princessy and sparkly so when our latest Parragon book review arrived I knew she’d love it! Glitterbelle The Sparkliest Princess Ever is a book about princesses but it definitely isn’t as pink and stereotypical as I first expected.
The story is about Glitterbelle who doesn’t think she is a ‘proper’ princess and her search to find out if she is a real princess after all. The story has lovely aspects of family, friends and most important of all – being what you want to be.
We’ve loved reading about Glitterbelle, the illustrations are beautiful and the characters are incredibly likeable. I love how the story looks back at The Princess and The Pea often and how they have made that story into a more modern day fairy tale.
Glitterbelle The Sparkliest Princess Ever is quite a long picture book but the illustrations kept LP’s concentration throughout. If we read the book at bedtime it would be a great length to have as the only bedtime story although LP usually prefers to have a couple of shorter stories as by late in the day her attention isn’t very good!
If you’re looking for a modern take on a fairy tale that is different from other princess stories you have read then definitely consider adding Glitterbelle The Sparkliest Princess Ever to your child’s library.
Disclosure: We were sent the above book for the purpose of this review however all opinions are my own.
