I love that LP and Little Man are now getting to the point where we can play games as a family and when the Orchard Toys Shopping List game arrived to review I knew that it would be one that we could all play together – aimed at age 3-7 and needing 2-4 players it was just right for the four of us and although Little Man isn’t three until next year he knows a lot of shopping items so I knew he’d give the game a go.
The Orchard Toys Shopping List game includes basket or shopping trolley cards, shopping list cards and lots of product cards. Each player takes it in turns to turn over a product card, see if they have it on their shopping list and if so they add it to their basket or trolley.
The game of Shopping List is so simple and yet both LP and Little Man really loved it and they were engaged in playing for the whole time. During the game the children had to remember where the products they needed were, they had to match the products with their shopping lists and in time they’ll be able to learn the words of the products from their shopping lists too.
As a family this is the first game that we could play without us having to let the children win, where we could play fairly and where the children could play with limited help and where we really enjoyed playing. I can imagine this being our Sunday afternoon game going forward.
I love that Orchard Toys create games that we love as a family. Ones that are educational but also really fun and ones that the children love to play. Shopping List is a favourite for us and a game that any child could play from the moment they start to recognise fruit, vegetables and other grocery items. This would make a great gift for any occasion.
The Orchard Toys Shopping List Game has an RRP of £7.50
Disclosure: We were sent the above game for the purpose of this review however all opinions are my own.
