Review: An afternoon with Now TV #MyOnesieland

Last weekend we were invited to share in Now TV’s #MyOnesieland experience – watching Muppets Most Wanted in our onesies whilst many other people across the UK did the same thing and even a lot of people in a special #MyOnesieland cinema screening.

Now TV sent us one of their limited edition TV boxes which has a Lego Movie design on it although standard TV boxes are also available and are plain white. We were also sent onesies and a hamper of treats to help us get in the mood for #MyOnesieland.

I was immediately impressed with how quick it was to set the TV up – You plug the box into the TV and power, connect it to your wireless internet connection and set up an account using a computer. You can then access everything that it has to offer including a free 30 day trial of Sky Movies which enabled us to get access to the Muppets Most Wanted movie.

The Now TV interface is easy to use and the remote is the most basic one I have seen in years and still completely functional – Now TV couldn’t really get any simpler making it easy for the whole family to watch and use.

We watched Muppets Most Wanted and I was pleased with how seamless the viewing was – when we’ve watched movies and things before on other streaming services we have found that they took a while to load or buffer and kept stalling or freezing throughout. Muppets Most Wanted through Now TV felt like watching a DVD – it was perfect!

The TV service has no contract and you can cancel at any time. You can sign up for a variety of movies, entertainment or sports packages as well as accessing your favourites shows with BBC iPlayer, ITV Player, 4oD and Demand 5. Plus  you can even use apps like Sky News, BBC News, YouTube, Facebook and Spotify directly through Now TV. Now TV also has 13 channels that aren’t available through Freeview for an added cost.

Another great thing about Now TV is that you can register up to 4 different devices to view through and you can watch on two at the same time – Now TV is available through your NOW TV Box, Chromecast, PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Roku, YouView, LG Smart TV, PC or Mac and Mobiles.

Now TV is great for anyone not wanting the inflated costs of a lot of TV services, wanting to watch their favourite shows in a second room or even to take away when holidaying in the UK It would also be a great addition to a teenager’s bedroom.

Overall it has been great to have an introduction to Now TV. We are enjoying watching all the movies on our 30 day free trial – something that would be great for all families at this time of year, and for an initial cost from just £9.99 I think that Now TV is fantastic value. We’ll definitely be using it in the future.
