A lovely day at Drusillas Park

Disclosure: We were invited on this day out for the purpose of this post however all opinions are my own.

Last year we went to Drusillas Park for a family day out and absolutely loved it – it was just such a fantastic day out but at the time we noticed that there were development works happening and so this year we were invited back to try out the brand new Drusillas Park splash park as part of another review visit.

Drusillas Park is situated near Eastbourne in East Sussex and although it’s not as well publicised as other big theme parks and attractions in the UK, as a family we love it as much or even more as other attractions we visit regularly – we just wish we lived closer!

When you first visit Drusillas Park you enter the zoo where you can see so many animals – from monkeys and meerkats to creepy crawlies, reptiles and larger creatures like otters, flamingos and lemurs. The zoo is an eclectic mix of exhibits, including a farm in the middle, and the children loved spotting all the different animals – especially as they had a book to stamp when they’d seen different things.

The whole of the zoo area could easily take a day to look round, especially as there were keeper talks and feeding demonstrations as well as so many mini activities to complete as they went along. As we had the splash park to visit this time we whizzed through the zoo but still spent enough time to see all of the children’s favourite animals.

We then had a break for lunch and there were so many places to sit and eat – although toilets can be a bit few and far between. We found a picnic bench and had our picnic but there were a lot of places at Drusillas Park to buy food too and all is pretty reasonably priced – we just knew the children would eat a bit quicker with a picnic.

After lunch we went to Hello Kitty Secret Garden where the children got to ride on different theme park rides – a straight up and down ride, a car ride and teacups. This is one of their favourite parts of Drusillas Park and they were both pleased to be able to go on two of the rides by themselves – it made them feel just so big!

It was then time to visit the splash park which was busy but still with enough space to sit whilst the children ran around in the water. The splash park was a really good size with fountains and water activities all on one level making it not just fun but super safe too.

LP and Little Man absolutely loved the splash park and had great fun splashing each other and playing in the fountains. It was such a nice place to watch the children play and you could easily spend the whole day just at the splash park.

We also went to the paddling pool at Drusillas Park and both LP and Little Man loved being able to get in the water and have a splash about. It was a good size pool with plenty of places for parents to sit round the edges and relax.

After the water activities we went on the Thomas themed train before heading home. The safari express train is part of a Thomas themed area with Diesel, James and Bertie bus and was one of Little Man’s highlights. The train ride takes you around Sodor and you even get to see the Fat Controller.

There is just so much to do at Drusillas Park, with huge play areas, soft play and so much more to keep the children entertained. As you can see, we didn’t get to do it all in one day and it means that every visit will bring something new. LP and Little Man are already looking forward to going to Drusillas Park again over the summer.

  1. I really like the sound of this place, my friend goes quite a lot as they’re close by and it’s on my list of places to visit when we’re in the area.

  2. We didn’t have time to visit when we were at Eastbourne at Easter unfortunately. It looks a lovely place, and the splash park is fab.
