Happy Birthday What the Redhead said – Two Today!

Oh wow. What a couple of years it has been. I was blogging for about eighteen months before What the Redhead said was launched and I silently hoped What the Redhead said would be my blogging future.

Happy Birthday What the Redhead said - Two Today!

I hoped What the Redhead said would be able to grow with me, that it could cover any kind of content and that it could still follow our lives as the children got older – staying close to it’s family routes but expanding into more than just another parent blog.

Two years on and What the Redhead said is all that and more. What the Redhead said is still very much somewhere to express myself, a creative outlet and, now, it’s also my job. A job I love more than any I have had in the past and one that just never gets boring.

What the Redhead said has enabled me to live my dream. It’s nothing huge, it’s a simple dream, but now it’s a reality – thanks to this blog. I get to stay at home with the children, work when they’re at school, spend school holidays with them and pick them up from school in the afternoons. It was a simple dream, one I never thought possible, but one that is now my life – and I couldn’t be happier.

On top of that I didn’t ever think I’d be comfortable recording videos – or especially being in front of the camera. But over the last year my You Tube channel has grown massively, in both content and followers, and it’s an aspect of blogging I’m really enjoying now.

I’ve somehow managed to stay in the Top 10 of the Tots100 chart for the last 8 months, was name number 2 in the 2016 Top 10 Parent Bloggers chart and was a finalist in two different sets of awards last year. These are things I never even dreamed of, but they are things I am just so immensely proud of.

Blogging is incredible and I often remember the day I started blogging and feel so thankful that I made that decision. I don’t know what made me do it but I’m so glad I did. Blogging has literally changed my life.

But, my blog would be nothing without people to read it, people who interact on social media and people who randomly end up here after a quick Google search. I am so thankful for the people that read What the Redhead said and hope that you’ll all still be here in years to come, seeing what else we’ve got up to.

The last year for us, and What the Redhead said, has been a whirlwind – and it’s been great having you along for the ride. I’m sure this next year will be just as eventful!

Happy Birthday to my lovely little space online. I actually have no idea what I did with my time before I started writing… Now, where’s the cake?!

  1. Happy blog birthday. Happy to have read your blog (and from pre-this name), and have met you. You’ve worked so hard and are generous with your time and knowledge too, you really deserve the success you’ve had.
