Review: My Given Name Book

Any regular reader will know how much we love books and there is nothing we love more than a personalised book. When I saw the My Given Name book I thought it would be the sort of thing that LP would love to read and so when we were sent a copy to review I couldn’t wait to see what LP thought.

My Given Name is a book personalised to be about any child. The front cover has the child’s name on it and the whole book is written about how the child came to be names – spelling out the name on the pages, using different animals for each letter of the name and ending with a birth certificate of the child’s full name.

Each page is beautifully illustrated and the fonts really bring out the print in the book, especially where a character of the child’s name is being described and a different colour is used. The book is a pleasure to read, wonderful to look at and a perfect bedtime story to end the day.

LP is at the age where she is starting to learn letters and learn what her name looks like written down. Soon she will learn how to spell her name and to write it herself and My Given Name has already started to help with how she recognises letters and I am sure it will continue to help as time goes by.

My Given Name is something that all children would love to own, a book about them. It’s a really great addition to not only a child’s bookshelf but something to treasure for years to come, look after and have as a keepsake way past childhood.

My Given Name has an RRP of Β£19.99

Disclosure: We were sent the above book for the purpose of this review however all opinions are my own.

  1. i would have YzabellΓ© my daughters name. This is a great prize, it is impossible to find anything with her name on

  2. I would choose ‘Lydia’ for my favourite little girl who is an avid ready, she would really enjoy this, ty for the chance!

  3. If you don’t mind, I’ll keep that name secret – I’ve posted on a couple of your other competitions as I’m trying to win some surprise gifts for my nieces who have moved in with my mum long-term as their parents can’t care for them. Unfortunately, if I give you their names here, it could affect their privacy at a time when this really matters. Suffice it to say that it would be for one or both of my two nieces (the other one would have one bought for them, so they don’t feel left out), and it would no doubt mean a lot to them.

But, for the sake of participating, my favourite name for a child would have been Nicholas for a boy. I could never pick a girls name I liked the most… πŸ˜‰

  4. Sophie. My partner and I choose it when we first got together and we’ve been trying for a baby for a year but so far nothing (except a miscarriage which upset us both immensely). We’re getting married next year so fingers crossed for a 2016 baby!

  5. I would have my Niece Millie – as her birthday is coming up soon and it would make as a lovely gift πŸ™‚

  6. i would have Teigan my 4 years old nieces name its her birthday soon and she told me she wanted books for her birthday this would be perfect <3
