LP loves Doc McStuffins. She’s recently got into it and sings the theme tune constantly, so much so that when we went to have her preschool booster jabs she thought they were going to ‘tickle a little’! When we were sent the Doc McStuffins Eye Doctor Bag Playset to review LP loved it instantly and begged to play with it – I promised she could play with it the following day and she want to bed saying she was going to be Doc McStuffins in the morning!
The Eye Doctor Bag Playset comes in really easy to open packaging and comprises a bag, head torch, examining tool, eyedropper, glasses, eye patch and stickers. Everything fits nicely into the bag which for me is a great feature – I love toys with their own storage options.
LP loved the concept of the Doc McStuffins Eye Doctor Playset and understood that all the pieces were to look after eyes. She loved the headtorch and and easily unscrewed the eyedropper to make mine and Hubby’s eyes better. Unfortunately she seemed disappointed with the examining tool as she expected it to do something, and the hole in it to look through was very small so she just really didn’t see the point in it.
The glasses were a great idea with one half frame that you then attach a choice of funky frames to but the frames were quite hard to click in place and once attached we found that the glasses wouldn’t stay on LP’s face and realistically would only fit a much older child – or an adult – as they fit Hubby and I perfectly.
The storage bag was very solid but it was hard to open and LP would ask us to open it. An arrow or something at the place where you press to open it would really help children learn how to open and close the bag themselves.
Overall LP really enjoys playing with this playset but we found that the front of the headtorch falls off quite easily, the glasses were only worthwhile if used by someone a lot older than the 3+ recommendation and the headtorch is quite a small fit too – being tight on LP’s head at three and a half.
If you have a Doc McStuffins fan they are sure to love this playset and at £19.99 it is a lot more reasonably priced than other character toys but there is definite room for improvement.
Disclosure: We were sent the above product for the purpose of this review however all opinions are my own.
