Last week we were sent a lovely hamper full of Aldi products as a treat to celebrate their partnership with Team GB. As part of Aldi’s commitment to British quality and in preparation for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, Aldi are now the official partner of Team GB and will be supporting six Team GB hopefuls as they prepare to represent their country in Rio next year.
With the wonderful selection of food we were sent from Aldi we put together a simple but lovely dinner. The products sent to us were used for the Team GB Ball dinner and we used that as inspiration for our steak accompanied by steamed kale and paprika sweet potato chips cooked in the Tefal Actifry.
The steak was lovely. It’s not something Hubby and I have often but the taste of the beef, having matured for 28 days, was perfect and Hubby cooked it just right – medium for me and medium rare for him. The sweet potato chips complimented the steak and although I haven’t cooked sweet potatoes in the Actifry before they were lovely! It’s our first choice for cooking any potato products and we wouldn’t be without it.
Unfortunately Hubby was working nights and so couldn’t indulge in a glass of Aldi Pinot Noir but we’ve saved it for his days off instead! I love finding a good red wine and this looks like it would be the perfect accompaniment to any meat dish.
Aldi’s new Taste Kitchen gives a lot of information and tips to use in the kitchen – including how to cook the perfect steak. It’s worth taking a look if you’re looking for any culinary advice or inspiration.
Disclosure: We were sent a lovely hamper from Aldi but weren’t asked to write this post. As always, all thoughts are my own.
