We started off half term with a trip to Bath, one of my favourite places in the UK. We haven’t really explored Bath with the children before so it was great to go on a city break and do things we wouldn’t usually do – with the main focus of our trip being to visit The Roman Baths, somewhere I hadn’t been since I was LP’s age.
We stayed at SACO Apartments on St James Parade overnight which was a great base to explore the city. They have parking, wifi and even a welcome pack to get you started – it was lovely to have milk, tea and breakfast staples ready and one less thing to worry about.

On Monday night Hubby and I were invited to the 1907 restaurant, bar and grill at Brooklands Hotel. It was the first time we had been out for a meal, just the two of us, since the summer and we were really looking forward to it – even more so as I’d sampled the 1907 menu when I went for a spa day at the hotel a couple of weeks ago.
The 1907 restaurant is situated on the ground floor of Brooklands Hotel and is accessible from the main hotel and directly from outside. There’s plenty of parking and it looks immediately welcoming from outside, with shrubs at the entrance and the black decor visible through the windows.

A few days ago a friend and I were invited for a spa day at the Brooklands Hotel. It’s a hotel I have always been familiar with but have never been to, knowing that it’s right next door to the Mercedes Benz World and opposite the Mercedes test track.
Brooklands Hotel offer many spa packages with spa facilities to compliment the treatments. We were booked on a package with a 50 minute treatment each, lunch and the whole day to make use of the spa.
We arrived at the hotel and were immediately impressed with it – really grand and with a lovely welcoming feel. We had a friendly greeting and were advised to make our way to the third floor which is home to the Brooklands Hotel Spa.

When we went to Wales to visit The Royal Mint Experience, we stayed at the Mercure Cardiff Holland House Hotel and Spa for the night. I didn’t know much about the hotel before we arrived but we were able to park underneath the hotel, with plenty of availability for just £12 for the night and checked in easily.
The hotel was beautiful, still decorated for Christmas and with plenty of places to sit and relax. The whole hotel had a really welcoming feel and the staff were really friendly and helpful. We had a Junior Penthouse Suite for the night, on the top floor, and when we got to it we were so impressed with the size.

Last weekend we spent a day in Basingstoke, getting into the festive spirit and seeing what they had to offer families at this time of year. Basingstoke has always been one of my go to places for shopping but it’s not somewhere I take the children often.
As soon as we parked up and walked through town we found the Christmas tree and Christmas train ride in the middle of Festival Place shopping centre. The children were happy to watch the train go round and loved looking at all the Christmas lights everywhere – Basingstoke have gone to town where decoration is concerned.
