A few days ago a friend and I were invited for a spa day at the Brooklands Hotel. It’s a hotel I have always been familiar with but have never been to, knowing that it’s right next door to the Mercedes Benz World and opposite the Mercedes test track.
Brooklands Hotel offer many spa packages with spa facilities to compliment the treatments. We were booked on a package with a 50 minute treatment each, lunch and the whole day to make use of the spa.
We arrived at the hotel and were immediately impressed with it – really grand and with a lovely welcoming feel. We had a friendly greeting and were advised to make our way to the third floor which is home to the spa.

When we went to Wales to visit The Royal Mint Experience, we stayed at the Mercure Cardiff Holland House Hotel and Spa for the night. I didn’t know much about the hotel before we arrived but we were able to park underneath the hotel, with plenty of availability for just £12 for the night and checked in easily.
The hotel was beautiful, still decorated for Christmas and with plenty of places to sit and relax. The whole hotel had a really welcoming feel and the staff were really friendly and helpful. We had a Junior Penthouse Suite for the night, on the top floor, and when we got to it we were so impressed with the size.

Last weekend we spent a day in Basingstoke, getting into the festive spirit and seeing what they had to offer families at this time of year. Basingstoke has always been one of my go to places for shopping but it’s not somewhere I take the children often.
As soon as we parked up and walked through town we found the Christmas tree and Christmas train ride in the middle of Festival Place shopping centre. The children were happy to watch the train go round and loved looking at all the Christmas lights everywhere – Basingstoke have gone to town where decoration is concerned.

Last weekend we stayed at the Novotel, Southampton to extend a festive day out into a festive weekend. The Novotel is situated close to West Quay shopping centre and also Southampton Docks – so a great base for both travel and entertainment.
The hotel had it’s own private car park which costs £8 a day to park for hotel guests and as soon as we walked into the hotel we were greeted with such a bright and airy reception – complete with beautiful Christmas tree!

Last week we were invited to have afternoon tea at Moggerhanger Park in Bedfordshire. It tied in nicely with a spa break Lucy and I were going on and if there’s one thing we both love it’s afternoon tea, a chance to relax and a nice stately home.
Moggerhanger Park is a Grade 1 listed Georgian house set in acres of parkland and woods. It’s the most complete surviving example of Soane’s work and was sculpted by Humphry Repton. It’s the sort of building that I love to visit, full of history, period features and a real classic appeal. We couldn’t wait to see it for ourselves!
