Our 6th Wedding Anniversary

Six years ago today Dave and I got married. It was without a doubt the best day of my life, the sun shone and it couldn’t have been better. If I could do it again tomorrow I would. It was incredible.

As a wedding gift I wrote a book for Dave. It was 100 reasons why I loved him and it took months to compile and even now, re-reading that book makes me teary – we have come so far in the last 6 years and yet the sentiment is the same. I married my best friend.

Dave never fails to make me smile. We have our ups and downs but more ups than downs and even on a down moment Dave will know how to make it all ok again. There is no-one I would rather spend a day with, no-one I would rather sit on the sofa watching TV with and no-one who I would rather live this life with.

I wrote in the book that if life were a movie then the book would be the trailer and our marriage would be the movie. The book summed up our life until that point, five years of our friendship, love and adventures. It was everything that got us to that point – getting married.

Our 6th Wedding Anniversary

If our marriage really is the movie then we are now a little bit of the way through – not quite halfway and no intervals just yet. It feels like we are only getting started. Each year flies by and it feels like we are still at the start. It doesn’t yet feel like we have been married forever, and those six years are a blur. I don’t even want to reach the end of our movie, or even to have an interval. I am incredibly happy exactly where we are – walking our path in life.

Our 6th Wedding Anniversary

Thanks Dave for 6 fantastic years, two wonderful children and a beautiful home. I couldn’t have done any of it without you by my side. Here’s to another six years – and the rest!

  3. Oh this is so beautiful Donna! What a lovely idea. My husband made me a book of our lives together so far on the morning we got married. I might have to dig it out and have a look at it. Happy belated Anniversary. x
